Alpine Habitat Diversity - HABITALP
Work package 12 - Sustainable Setting of Project and Work Package Implementation

Management: Nationalpark Berchtesgaden
Duration: 07/2004 – 10/2006

Work package 12 supports all management and implementation activities of the previous work packages in the purpose of a sustainable setting of the project results. This is especially important for HABITALP because its heterogeneous project community and its integrative project objectives require the unification of different languages, cultures, equipments, skills and disciplines.

The work package tasks essentially comprise translation and mediation services that are indispensable to obtain genuine community achievements and general acceptance of the results. In most cases these tasks are taken over by the Alpine Network of Protected Areas (ALPARC) and the IntrAlp associazione professionale.

Oral and written communication in the native languages avoids misunderstandings. It enables the correct expression of local requirements by the project partners and their integration into common alpine outputs by the leading project members. Through this service ALPARC contributes to the alpine harmonization of methods and procedures.

Apart from the linguistic assistance, ALPARC influences positively the evolution of the HABITALP communication culture by motivation of partners and mediation in delicate situations. ALPARC thus complements the project management activities (see work packages 2 and 3) and promotes transnational integration as well as a constructive atmosphere. Both are essential to consolidate the partnership and to produce sustainable results.
