Management: Nationalpark Berchtesgaden
Duration: 11/2002 – 09/2006
The transnational spatial database will document all aerial images

Informatics Centre (LIZ) and the
Swiss National Park (SNP) will undertake the scientific implementation
of these tasks.

All protected areas must provide their data in a harmonized format
so they can be integrated in the common database.
This standardized format will comprise
- an alpine projection and reference system for the geographic
data
- a common database design for the attribute data (normalized
table columns and links between data tables)
- a description according to ISO 19115 CORE for the metadata on
geographic datasets
Access to the geographic project results will be regulated in two
different ways by internet, i.e. by the aid of a mapserver application
and web GIS connections. This implies the installation of a specific
server technology.
Descriptive project results like reports, specifications, common
methods and metadata are documented in the content management system
of work package 11.
Open access to the data makes it necessary to define accessibility
and user rights. These are granted individually by each project
partner.
